A certain webloid is claiming to know Calvin Harris’ reaction to Taylor Swift’s lyrics in her new song “Gorgeous,” but the story was made up. Gossip Cop can expose this fake news story.
At midnight Friday, Swift released a new song from her upcoming album and many began speculating that the lines “I got a boyfriend, he’s older than us/He’s in the club doing I don’t know what” are a reference to Harris. In fact HollywoodLife noted in a headline on Friday morning, “Taylor Swift Fans Freak That She’s Throwing Shade At Ex Calvin Harris In ‘Gorgeous.'” Now less than 12 hours later, the site is trying to capitalize on that possibility by pretending to know Harris’ reaction.
In the follow-up piece, titled “Calvin Harris ‘Not Surprised At All’ Over Taylor Swift Lyrics — ‘Get Over It & Move On,'” the outlet writes, “Ever since Taylor Swift dropped her new track ‘Gorgeous,’ fans have been speculating that she took a sly jab at her ex Calvin Harris in the lyrics! Now, we’ve got the DJ’s response to the shady reference!” Yeah, that isn’t suspicious at all.
The online publication quotes a supposed “source close to Calvin” as saying, “Calvin is not surprised at all after hearing the lyrics to Taylor‘s new song. Calvin knows that Taylor built her career about singing about the men in her life so he knew it was only a matter of time before she took some shots at him. He is a little shocked that after all this time, she is still thinking about him and maybe a little hung up on him too.”
But on his Twitter feed, the deejay doesn’t seem the least bit fazed by the song. In fact, Harris tweeted on Friday night, “Feeling extra blessed today.” So why would he bother having someone close to him go tell a random blog how he feels about his ex-girlfriend’s music? Gossip Cop is told he wouldn’t. And HollywoodLies proved that it has no real access to either music star when it wrongly claimed Swift was “secretly engaged” to Harris more than a year ago.
The webloid didn’t magically, all of a sudden get some real scoop. We’re told the site simply manufactured Harris’ reaction. And given that the outlet is known for making up “exclusives” related to hot topics, it’s certainly no surprise HollywoodLies went that route.
